Lajpat Park, located in the Adampur area of Bhagalpur, Bihar, India, is a serene and picturesque urban park that has become a beloved spot for both residents and travelers. Renowned for its lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and excellent amenities, Lajpat Park offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city life and is a testament to the natural splendor of Bhagalpur.
Lajpat Park faced significant challenges in the past due to its proximity to a garbage dumping ground. The park and its surrounding roads were plagued by heaps of garbage, toxic air, and narrow, dirty pathways. This situation prompted a group of young individuals, led by social worker Shandilya Nandikesh, to take action. Inspired by Bhagalpur’s status as a Smart City, they embarked on a voluntary initiative to clean and renovate the park.
Their efforts, supported by local residents, including Dr. Anjana Prakash and social worker Mithesh Bhardwaj, resulted in the removal of garbage, leveling of roads, and the establishment of a cleaner and more accessible park area. The transformation included the creation of Janata Park, enclosed with barbed wire, and the planting of palm trees.
Lajpat Park offers a variety of features and amenities designed to enhance the visitor experience:
Lajpat Park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and there are no visiting charges. The best time to visit is in the early or late evening to avoid traffic and enjoy the park during sunset.
